(The blog's been pretty quiet during the Christmas holidays--no surprise, really, what with traveling and weddings and kids/husbands home and all...)

Happy New Year, family! I love you all very much. Thanks to everyone for contributing to the blog--I love love love it.

(P.S. This is totally off the subject, but I think Gideon just realized that his clothes aren't just part of his body. He is pulling at, playing with, and generally fascinated with his sleeve just now. Like, "Ooh, look! I have a hand. Watch it disappear! Watch it reappear! Cool!")

Reunion

This is what I got from Aunt Wendy a few days ago. Keryn told me that she didn't get it, so I am posting it and my answer for everyone to read!

We are wanting to get to know our family better. We are having everyone write a paragraph describing themselves and we would like something from everyone in the family even if you are not coming to the reunion. You can include things such as where you have lived, occupation, favorite book, movie, food hobby, a life changing event, and anything else that describes you. If you could email this to me by Thurs. Dec. 27th that would be great. However, I want it even after the reunion because I am compiling a journal entry to send out to everyone made up of all of our paragraphs. Hope to hear from you soon. Hi, everyone, for everyone not directly related to me, I am Jenafer Tobler Roy, the second child of Michael and LaDonna Tobler. I was born on Oct 14, 1975 in Las Vegas. I graduated from Western High School in 1994 and went to collage at UNLV. I met my husband, Jeff Roy, at a singles dance in June of 1995 and we were married in the Las Vegas Temple on March 29, 1996. We settled down in Vegas so Jeff could go to collage at UNLV, where he graduated December 2000 with a batchalors degree in Finance. Jeff is currently a mortgage underwritter for Countrywide. We moved from Vegas to the Phoenix area in 2001 to pursure job opportunities, and are still there! We have five children. Our oldest, Benjamin was born on December 17, 1996, is now 11 years old and in the fifth grade. He is a avid reader and loves math the best. Heather, born November 23, 1998, is nine and in the third grade. She strugles with reading the most in school, but is a budding seamstress. She makes all the clothes for her dolls, from Barbie to her TIM doll. Jacob, born August 12, 2001, is six and in first grade. Jacob was diagnosed with Apraxia three years ago and has undergone extensive speach therapy as a result we can finally understand him! We are thrilled with his progress. Jacob played football this last season and even got a touchdown. He LOVES all sports and is very active. Erica, born November 23, 2003, yes on Heather's fifth birthday, is four and will be starting preschoool on January 7. She has speach problems as well and needs the speach therapy that the preschool will provide. She loves to play with her dolls and her favorite princess is Cinderella! Our youngest is Lillian, born October 14, 2005, yes on my 30th birthday! Lillian is two and very active. She loves babys and stuffed animals and, well, basiclly anything she can squeeze. She is happy and healthy and just a joy to have! I am very busy running from scouts to activity days and football practices, but find the time to be the Secratary for the PTO at the kids school. I am also one of the Sunbeam teachers in our ward. Besides that, what little spare time I have I spend either reading, or exprimenting in the kitchen. I love to cook and am constantly tweaking recipes. I am also working in the mortgage industry as a Loan Officer. I can do it from home and it meens that I can get the best rates on mortgages for my family and friends. I love all of my family so much and wish we could be closer to more of them. We currently only have us, Samuel and Rad in the area! So, if you're tired to the snow, move down to Phoenix!

Funny!

Today, I read an article about the past years biggest business mistakes. I just had to pass along number 13, Disneyland. Apparently, Disneyland will be closing down the It's a Small World ride to deepen the canals because the boats were getting stuck when overloaded with especially large riders. As of now, Disneyland employees are asking heaver riders to disembark, and are compensating them with food coupons!

Long time no hear (from me)

Here is a short little blurb about my family. I have also included a few pictures, as I hope you can tell by looking at this post.

To have some fun for Christmas, we decided to make graham cracker houses. But we only made one. Here is the best picture I think...





Notice I tried to get one of Adam as he was helping both Caren and myself making the house.

For the next item of business, Caren and I got a few pets for our boys. These are very low maintenance and hopefully will live a fairly long time. They are goldfish. The cheap kind. Did you know Walmart sells a fish starter kit for $8. One gallon tank with net, rocks, and a fake plant. All for $8. Too good to pass up. Our boys absolutly love looking at the fish. We do have to place them up high so Kip does not try to stick his hands in the tank or try to pull the tank down on top of himself. The fun.

Light at the end of the tunnel of flu

I am slowly--slowly--climbing my way out of a flu that hit me yesterday morning. (Yes, I have fabulous timing, what with Jayson's birth and taking care of a sick (feverish) Katy until Mema got here. Thank heavens that Katy loves her Uncle Brad--she spent most of Sunday draped over him.) I was feeling fine--fabulous, even--on Saturday night (well, fabulous with the exception of those @%$! airlines), and woke up Sunday morning to go fetch Katy with only the slightest sore throat. I even took Katy to see Mommy, Daddy, and BAY-Bee without barely a thought (though thanks goodness I DID think to wear a mask and wash up really really good. I was just being super cautious around that brand-new sweetpea.), and then brought Kate to my house, gave her a bath with my munchkins, and put her down for a nap...all the while feeling worse and worse. Each second, it seemed, brought new pain--joints, muscles, head, eyes, bones, back...and all the while my throat felt worse and worse, like a golf ball studded with needles was lodged in my throat. (Bonus TMI! My tonsils are hugely red and swollen.)

I didn't make it to sacrament meeting, staggered up to the church with Katy for junior Primary, felt very very faint and cried a little, got sent home without Katy (Bradley, with all FOUR kids at church! Give him a round of applause!), and slept most of the rest of the day. In between fever bouts, shivering, sweating gallons, and very strange dreams. Ditto last night--it wasn't pretty. As long as I keep the Tylenol in my system, I seem to be hanging in there. But I can't remember when I last took the pills--and finally I'm feeling a little bit better. So maybe this is 36 hour flu--and maybe I've taken enough precautions (washing, washing, washing hands) that my kids and husband (not to mention Katy and Mema, Telima and Tyler, and...heaven forbid baby boy Jayson) won't get it. It's been SO miserable. I haven't felt this bad all concentrated into two days in a long time.

I love you all--thanks for letting me rant. And now go have some cheese to go with all of the "whine" I just gave you.

Speaking of movies

Shauna dragged me to a movie today. Almost literally, since I always seem to have so much to do, I probably wouldn't have gone, but she felt I HAD to see this movie. It was quite good- good enough that when it was over I wanted to go right back in and watch it again. It is about music and many times I thought- wow- what it would be like to have that ability. It is called August Rush and was only missing one little thing to have been perfect. I wanted a hug at the end. Still- I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for an enjoyable story.

And mama- we were looking for a movie to see over the holiday- how about the new National Treasure which is hitting theaters on December 21st?

Update on Jayson

I know you've all been anxiously awaiting this update. =) And well...there's nothing new to report. I'm still not dilated at all and Dr. Gordon is hesitant to even talk about inducing until I'm dilated at least to a 1. However, we did make plans to hopefully be able to call the hospital and set up the induction for Dec. 13. We were going to try for the 14th, but apparently, they don't do scheduled inductions on Friday, Saturday, or Sundays. Because finals start for Tyler on Dec. 17, we'd really like for this baby to be here before then, so he doesn't have to worry about baby and finals all at once. Dr. Gordon totally understands, but he can't schedule it until my body is a lot closer to actually giving birth. So, we wait another week. *Sigh* Everyone, keep us in your prayers and pray for Jayson to decide to come in the next week and a half! I love you all!

Mmmm, oranges.

I love the wintertime. The snow (except when it turns to ice and I almost can't get my car away from the curb of mini-death next to Telima & Tyler's house), the early dark (sooo nice for Christmas lights. After Christmas the early dark is just lame, though), the yummy apples and oranges, hot cocoa and cider...

Okay, anyway. I don't like that my front room becomes significant chillier, but I suppose if I were to buy actual curtains that might fix things. And I don't like that I've only gotten to the last level in the geography game once, and it's full of precious locations like the something-something islands of Norway, which are, guess what? NOT near Norway, but rather next to Antarctica. But I do know were Brunei is now, finally.

That last one doesn't have anything to do with winter. Although both Norway and Antarctica are cold and dark sometimes.

And I am desolate, Jen, that Erica doesn't like spaghetti. Although that is somewhat un-American, she's still so darn cute we'll keep her.

Genes are funny things!

Genes are funny things. Saturday, we all had oranges. Erica made me peel and seperate hers, nothing unusual about that. Then, she proceeded to peel every speck of white off of her sections! I can vividly remember doing just that! So I'm thinking, she is deffinatly my daughter, but then, on Sunday, we had spegheti for dinner and Erica, my sweet thought of clone states very clearly, "I HATE SPEGHETI!" Oh well, I guess she is not mine after all!

It is the first day of December! Can you believe it? It will soon be 2008. Can you believe it? Christmas is almost here. Can you believe it? Sometimes, I just stop in amazement and discover just how fast everything is moving right now!
