Pine Wood Derby
To all who are thinking thoughts of the Pine Wood Derby this year:
As the Webelos leader in our Cub Scout Pack, I am very much involved in this years Pine Wood Derby, which will take place tonight. As I do not have any boys preparing a car as a cub scout I will have no interest in who will win and who does not win. But I did have an idea in making a car just for the fun of it. I was able to acquire a kit as we had several extras and, with Adam's help, was able to put my thoughts into a real pine wood derby car. I checked my car in for the official weigh in but I did not add any graphite to the wheels and I know that my car in very much under-weight. I do this because I don't want my car to win. If I were to make a car that I hoped would win, then we would have a problem with other Dad's wanting to add cars to the mix. Already having nearly 20 cars in the lineup we just can't have any more. So I don't care if my car is raced at all. It is there for all to see.
What, you may ask yourself, was I so interested in doing that I really wanted to make a 'losing' car? I added LED lights to the front and to the back that actually light up when an added switch is turned 'on'. Maybe next year I will make a car with lights AND sound. All it takes isa few smashed toys that sound good already and add those parts to the car. I am having so much fun.
I promise to take pictures and add at least one of them here. Love you all. SKT
