Thursdays

Thursdays are usually very long days for me. I leave right after school for piano lessons and don't get home until about 8:00. Tonight, however, there was a reprieve. While I was at Thomas', they received a phone call from the Brady's who were at their son's high school graduation and had forgotten piano. So I was home by 6:30 instead. That was nice because mom called almost the moment I'd walked in the door and I had a good talk with her. Now, instead of just finishing preparing dinner, I have already eaten a good meal of pork chops with tomatoes and squash (I'm a summer squash fan) and am writing to you.

Today wasn't a bad day. Normal, I guess for being the fourth to last day of school. Only three left and my report cards are DONE, except for attendance, which will be easy. There weren't any dramatic happenings today and that is totally OKAY. We spent an hour watching the fourth grade wax museums, finished the end of year test in math, stayed in for lunch recess as it was pouring (I HATE indoor recess!!!), wrote about our favorite Rockrimmon memories and a letter to the teacher that changed our lives, developed a little more about Toberia (We are divided into three tribes: air, water, and land, ride animals as transportation, live in holes, under the water and in the air on clouds, don't have t.v. and have a cleaner form of energy that uses the stalks of our native plant- you all need to read Weslandia by Paul Fleischman to understand the total significance of this place.) Finally we talked about how grateful I am that the patriots and not the loyalist won the revolutionary war and a little about the Swamp Fox. If I could figure out how to get a hold of the old Disney shows without spending an arm and a leg, I would in a heart beat. Except, of course, we don't have the copy right to watch any Disney shows at school. Even G rated once. Apparently, it costs an arm and a leg!! Oh well, I guess we'll just talk about Francis Marion instead.
