Just wait till you hear what happened here tonight...

So, I'm cooking dinner, right? And I did a stupid thing. I left my cookbook on one of the front stove tops. I put the pot of water I was going to boil on the back burner, right behind the cookbook. I flipped on the burner and walked away. Five minutes later, flames are shooting out around my cookbook because I turned on the WRONG burner! As Tyler said later, I just need to learn not to put my cookbooks (or anything else, for that matter) on the stove! Anyway, we got the fire out, with minimal damage to our kitchen. There's a few scorch marks on the linoleum and I seriously need to clean off the burner now, but all in all, nothing was seriously damaged. Except the cookbook. Which is toast. I did manage to save most of the recipes, though. I'm really actually sad about it, though, because it was my cookbook with my recipes in it, you know, on little index cards as opposed to a regular cookbook. Anyway, just thought you would all like to hear about my very first kitchen fire. It's a good thing I married a man who keeps a cool head in these kinds of situations! Here's some pictures. The first one is of the stove after I had already cleaned off around it, so you can't tell just how bad it really looked:

Hope everyone's having a good laugh! We are, now. =)
