SNOW DAY

ARGH!! When I first moved here, I thought snow days were great. How fun to be stuck home, snowed in, forced to read or write or whatever. Now, they are driving me crazy!!! Today was our first day of a two day presentation my fifth graders have been working on for over two months. The school, community, school board, news stations and newspapers were invited. Also, teachers and administrators from Aurora (north Colorado) and a principal from Florida or Georgia (I can't remember which) are coming. The principal flew in last night. It is a big deal. Two nights ago I had a nightmare about it- all about bibliographies and posters boards and how I wasn't done grading everything yet!!! I know, doesn't sound much like a nightmare, but I woke up stressed yesterday morning.
Now yesterday was a teacher work day. I spent it in a training at the school district's building. Last night, I told myself- don't worry, everything will go great. The kids will present wonderfully well, etc, etc.
My alarm goes off at 5:00a.m. I think, "WOW, I sleep and well, no less." Okay, time to get up and get ready for the day- dressing up nice, etc, etc. Then the radio says something like, "And now for school closings and late starts."
I freak, "What?" It was suppose to rain- you know rain, thunderstorm kind of rain in 40-50 degree weather. I start stomping through my apartment to get on line to find out if district twenty is closed.

YES!!! NO!!!! Now what???? It was hard enough scheduling the 24th and 25th for the Exhibition. Again, I ask- now what??? What if tomorrow is also a snow day? What if it is a late start??? Confound it!!

I know we need to go with the flow. I know life happens. I know there is nothing I can do if a blizzard decides to sweep across Colorado dumping a mix of rain and snow with more than a dash of wind into my lap.

I suppose if life throws me soap, I'll have to make bubbles.
Or maybe it is life throws me peanuts, I'll make peanut butter?
How about flowers and I'll make potpourri!?!?!?!?
