    So what did you think of the first two songs? The first was "Bless Our Prophet Dear" in a minor key, and then the funeral song "Each Life That Touches Ours For Good". Are they trying to tell us something? I hope not.

    On a more serious note: Wasn't Elder Oaks talk amazing? I know that there is usually a talk along these same lines, but this one seemed particularly directed at our family right now. I really appreciated his words about healing.

    I thought Daddy would have loved (and to put it in possible present tense- loved) the a cappella piece Love at Home. That was wonderful.

    Also, I got on line and thought it said I couldn't watch it because I had a Mac. Now I know. Thanks.

    So my downstairs neighbor asked to come to church with me a couple of weeks ago. She came up last Sunday and said she couldn't make it but expected to come next week. Well, next week it tomorrow and I was trying to explain but I am not sure she totally understands. (English is not her first language.) Anyway, at this point I am simply going to pray for the Spirit to be present and that she will wish to come back. At this point she is simply looking for a church that is closer to home. But- faith says- things go according to God's plan.

    Wow. That was a short sustaining. Only one new person sustained, and only a few releases. I thought perhaps the RS presidency were going to be released.

    I just saw some pictures of Pres. Hinckley as a young man. They reminded me instantly of Michael Tobler. A surprising connection, but it felt very right. Two very good men.

    Do you ever see something or smell something and instantly you are somewhere else from your past. When the temples came up during this mornings session, while the choir was singing, I was instantly transported back home. It really can't explain the feeling, I was just there. It was such a surprised happy feeling that I turned around in my seat to share it with my friend behind me. Then I realized, she wouldn't be feeling the same thing, she's not from Vegas. Oh well. I enjoyed it.

    Did anyone else get tears when the choir director turned and we all sang the first verse of "We Thank Thee O God"? That was a sweet moment for me, amid crying babies and talkative children.

    I was thinking it would have been incredible to have been in the conference hall at that time. I was glad I was at the stake center (although it wasn't all that full) so that we could also all stand and join in singing. For me, it would not have been the same to be singing all alone in my little apartment. I was actually missing the fact that so many people were watching it at home. I know with little kids it is ten times better, but the magnitude of multitudes singing and feeling at the same time is amazing.

    I am with President Monson. It was hard to close that conference.

    That's a VERY good point, LaDale. We didn't stand here at the house here in Page. In fact, I was the only one who sang along--Brad started to but then had to tend to Mercy. During all the non-choir songs we were the only ones singing--they aren't a big singing family.

    It has been an interesting weekend, but I'm really glad we came. We didn't get the houseboat--not enough people wanted to come, after all, and it's been colder than last year at this time, so the water is colder. I'm actually glad, although I was a little disappointed at first. Mercy has been running a pretty high fever, and I had to make a late-night run to the store to get some tylenol to trade off with the motrin I already had. She's been a sad little girlie this weekend. Ezra, on the other hand, has been having a BALL with cousins. So it's all good, at least in our family.

    I pretty much missed most of yesterday afternoon's session because I was tending to a hysterically sad Mercy in the back room. But I got most of today's talks...maybe. I'll probably read or listen to them later and think, "I must have missed this one completely!" Oh, well. With kids, that's conference life, I guess.
