The end of School, again

Ah, the end of another semester. Those of you who are closely connected to school will understand the joy that comes from finishing your last final. I fully understand that BYU has been done for a week or 2 (or 3?) but that does not take away from my just finishing my last exam last Monday. My last exam was in a class that I had not understood much of the homework over the previous 2 weeks. This caused me to despair that I may fail the exam and thus fail the class, or at least not get a good enough grade, and thus have to take it again next January. But the test went well. I did most of the exam in a satisfied way and I felt I did not fail the class. I don't know if I have ever felt more happy after an exam then I did after that one. Caren and I celebrated by going out to dinner, with the boys of course.

Now I will be taking it easy for the rest of this week. But, starting next Monday, I will be doing research full time while studying for the quite possibly toughest exam I will ever take in my life, the Physics Comprehensive Exam. This test me on everything I should have learned to get my BS and everything in the first year of my graduate studies. I do have 3 times to take this exam in order to pass. If I fail to get a passing grade by the third try I will be asked to leave ASU and, at best, given a Masters in Passing degree. This is the same as a slap in the face for me. I hope to pass this exam the first time around and I plan on studying for it like my life depends on it, as it really does depend on it. So keep in mind, if I seem easily aggitated around the middle of August, it will be due to this exam. ;-)

I wanted to answer Caren's latest QOTW: My favorite part of camping would have to be the cobbler. This of course is camping with family. When it came to camping with the scouts or others, I really enjoyed the evening full of stars, assuming it didn't rain. We just can't see the same number of stars in the city as we can in the mountains. The stars helped me to realize that we were away from "civilization." That is all.
