Kids are crazy!!!!!
Two stories for your reading pleasure.
1- Yesterday, Erica got some chocolate chips for sitting on the potty. She ate some and scattered some on the ground, etc. This morning I was getting her dressed for the day, and noticed that she seemed dirtier then normal for first thing in the morning. Well I grabbed a wipe and set out to clean at least her face for her. She kept dodging the wipe, the way she does, by turning her head from side to side, sort of an exaggerated NO NO NO NO, and I noticed a dark junk in her ears, both of them. Concerned, I laid her down on her side an attacked the inside of her ear with a wipe. You guessed it, chocolate. In the other side, it became more obvious what had happened. She stuffed a chip in each ear and slept on them. The side that she slept on had completely melted into her ear shell, and the other side had only melted a little and was still lodged there mostly.
2- Benjamin came home yesterday early from school with a tummy ache. I should have been clued in when he immediately ran upstairs and put his backpack away. Then, when Heather got home, I yelled for her to be sure to take her backpack out of the car as I was entering the house. Benjamin got a panicked look on his face and said, "Why do you need to see my backpack?" Believe it or not, I was STILL not clued in. This morning I asked him to bring his backpack downstairs so I could pack his lunch. He brought it downstairs and I asked if his permission slip for a swim trip coming up was in his backpack. He said, "Yes, I'll get it for you." OK, I concede that I was a little slow, but the light finally came on. I insisted that he let me go through his backpack. Inside was TWO half finished writing assignments that he was supposed to finish yesterday. Big sigh. He finished one this morning before school and I told him that if he didn't finish the other at school, he would have to finish it tonight at home. If he "forgot" it at school, he wouldn't be allowed to go on the swim trip, and I would be going to school with him tomorrow and asking his teacher if he finished it tomorrow morning. Were we as obvious as that at that age, you think?
