Okay, my favorite childhood book was...hard to say. I seem to remember really liking a book called Mouse Soup, but I don't remember what it was about, so it must not have had too much of an impact of me. I think that probably I'd have to say that Heckedy Peg by Audrey Wood (although I must say that I always thought it was spelled Heggedy). Most of you know that it's about a woman with seven children named Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They get kidnapped and turned into different foods by a witch named Heckedy Peg while their mother is at the market. When she gets home, she goes to rescue her children. In order for the spell to be broken and the witch not to eat her children, their mother must guess which food is which child and she doesn't even get one mistake. Of course, she guesses which food is which child by what they asked her to bring back from the market for them. They chase the witch out of her house and almost all the way back to their own house. She ends up falling into a stream and is never seen again. It's a great book.
